Hi! I am completely new to this but would like to connect with others that share similar situations/circumstances! My daughter is 7 and was diagnosed with Asperger's at age 4 (following 8weeks prematurity with ongoing developmental delay and absence seizures diagnosed at age 3 and resolved(?) by age 4). She was diagnosed by a neurologist, however, truly does not 'fit' all criteria for her diagnosis. I am an occupational therapist that has worked with autistic children and I never saw this coming!!! Julie has developmental and cognitive delay and major behavioral issues including frequent tantrums with ear-piercing screams, aggression, social awkardness, anxiety, irrational thoughts, fears and behaviors, sensory issues, 'tics' and a tendancy to perseverate! She is also beautiful, affectionate, very verbal, compassionate and lovely!!! Julie has been on a small dose of Respirdal for the past 3-4 years which has made a world of difference. It has not ever eliminated behaviors but has taken the edge off and helps us "reach" her most of the time. My concern is as she is getting bigger she is more aggressive and seems more easily angered. Any advice? By the way, she is not potty trained and we have been working on this for the past 4 years! Pull-ups are getting too small!

i have a similar situation.
i have a similar situation. we have a daughter who has never has an 'austism' diagnosis, although they say she has 'autistic' qualities. our only diagnosis has been pdd. she will be 7 next sunday and are also not getting very far with potty training. she does well as long as we take her, but she doesn't initiate going (except sometimes to poop) as your little julie, bailey can be quite aggressive, for no apparent reason, it seems. it's getting to the point that we can't leave her alone with kids, for fear that she may 'attack' at any moment. her big thing is scratching. and it comes out of nowhere. it's great to finally have a place to talk to others who go thru the sames situations as we do. what was that med. you are giving her? what does it do? thanks so much-donya

Hello, I'm new to this as well but I must tell you your story sounds like mine. Joshuah doesn't fit all the criteria, but we know our child better than anyone else. Anyway I just wanted to tell you Joshuah is 5 and has just been potty trained. His in home therapists come over everyday and when we did the "BIG WEEK" as they call it Joshuah was naked from the waste down and we spent the first 3 days in the bathroom from wake up time to bedtime. He sat on the toilet for two minutes and was able to play with his toys in the bathroom for five minutes. It is a long tedious task, however it did work and if you want anymore info, just let me know, because there is alot more to it, but its totally worth it!Miss Josephine
