Auto Suggestion

Hello, This is my first blog entry and I am writing because I am interested in finding out if there is anyone with an autistic child who has tried to get them to write over and over an autosuggestion like "I will be good in school" over and over. Did it help? I would like to know if that would help in school instead of sending a child (my grandson is 12) home expelled for two days for calling a teacher an unacceptable name. Thanks for any help.

Wouldn't "I will be good in school" be too ambiguous?  See the Gray Center's website regarding the use of social stories for children with ASD's.

If they know your grandchild has autism then why wasn't he allowed a break. He was getting frustrated and that probally caused the outburst.

I'm wondering if your grandson understands exactly what happened, and what might have occured before he was sent home... in other words, what is the history here and how is the school working with him and his condition?

PS Your grandson is very lucky to have grandparents who are taking such an interest in his welfare!!!

I have a google alert set for the word "autosuggestion", thats how I found what you wrote. I know nothing at all about autism, but I want you to know of a book that may help you understand autosuggestion. It would be very interesting if autosuggestion works on autism. The book is "Think and grow rich" You can probably get it at your local library. Trust me, all the answers are in that book! You might have to read it a few times. Lots of luck.
