We are new to blogging, but we would like to ask a few questions to possibly receive some help from someone out there who might know...
Here is some background...My husband and I have a son with autism...He was finally diagnosed with Asperger's when he was 15. He is 24 today. It took so long to get any light about what his problem was because, back in the late 80's and in the 90's, no one knew anything about autism. So little was known that even his doctors couldn't tell us anything.
We did not have any real help for many years, but we taught Andy at home. Thank God for homeschooling! During that time, we just worked with him on areas that we knew he needed help with. His curriculum was very unique. Speech, how to follow simple instructions, simple concepts such and "up-down" "his-hers", and lots of other things that others take for granted. He learned to readand write well, do math well and grasp many things. He graduated high school, and went on to a technical program in junior college.
