We have relaxed and are following it here and there, I know that they say “a little bit hurts” but I can’t put my kids through this lifestyle sometimes being normal is all you want and that means normal food. Here are some more fascinating things that happened to us on the Gluten Free Casin Free Diet.
Our son mentioned his eyes were blurry at school another day and he felt dizzy, gee I wonder what kind of behavior he had that day?
We went to the whole foods market again for week two and picked out the things we knew we liked. The kids went for soy ice dream and buckwheat wild berry waffles (they are actually delicious) but that is not enough to eat for a week. We got to sample a GF CF pizza that tasted pretty good but of course they did not stock the product yet they were just sampling and the product would be in a couple of weeks. So we decided to pick up another brand that was made with soy cheese and a rice crust. They were $9.98 for a 6 inch pizza! We were so excited we cooked one up for lunch when we got home and all gagged it truly was like sour cardboard!! I ended up throwing two of them away.
Our grocery bill for week two ended up being $387.40 two hundred of it was at the whole foods market that’s 30 minutes away, and $187 of if was at our local grocery store. This diet aint cheap!
After reviewing with our allergy specialist all in all he says “it’s like art” you have to work to make it fit your life. Our life for now is going back to coupon clipping (because that’s all we can afford) and basic healthy eating; meat, potatoes, vegetables, and an occasional sandwich with bread and a sweet snack once a day or so…
Don’t beat yourself up if you can’t stick with it, it’s crazy!
