Okay, here's another one... the library. I know, most of us can't take our ASD kids to the library because, even though a lot of ASD kids aren't very verbal, they can be noisy and disruptive.

However, as we all are aware, libraries have long been a source of free reading material--not only that but my local library has been very good about purchasing every new book that I have requested as long as the book is less than two years old. (Look for these key words: "PURCHASE REQUESTS") Otherwise, for $2, they will do a state-wide, inter-library search for any book I want. This is cheaper than than the $3.99 shipping cost on Amazon.com.

Other services the library provides are "holds" (over the phone or internet) and delivery for the elderly. I haven't asked if they will deliver for special needs circumstances, but I'm sure they would. The nice thing about "holds" is that you can take your time browsing from you home computer and then make a quick dash into the library to collect your stuff.

In conclusion, the library is a little more of a hassle to access than Amazon.com and you have to give the books back in 3 to 6 weeks, BUT the library is free/cheap.

I love it! Thanks, Cindy!

I love it! Thanks, Cindy! Okay, here's my first suggestion, even though it is kind of lame...

Hubby refuses to eat ground beef--says it's bad for him. I don't want to spend $6.99 on 99% fat free ground turkey meat. The 93% fat free ground turkey ($3.50 for 1.25 lbs) used to be fine but lately when I've been making meatloaf I've been getting really grossed out by the tiny little fatty squares of skin I can see in the mix. I mean, I would NEVER eat the skin off of a turkey thigh. Except maybe off of a holiday bird, but that is different. So I bought a returned meat grinder from ebay. It was $25 including all of the shipping. It has a sausage maker so my husband has been making sausage jokes this week.

The only trouble is, that I won't be able to find cheap turkeys this time of year, so I'm going to go with 99 cent chicken breasts. Our dog is the type who can eat skin and bones no problem so that will also save $$$ on dog food yet be a very natural source of food for her. My husband is a dog nut so he only buys the finest organic dog food (not cheap). Dog eats better than me sometimes. :)
