when I'm 20
Let me preface by saying my five and a half year old is still not completely potty trained. We're working on it but, you got it, he still makes #2 in a diaper. I told him, "everybody pee pees and poo poos in the bathroom, no exceptions" so, he now at least makes magic while standing in the bathroom with the door closed. I consider this a major victory as it was no small feat getting Eric just to take this baby step.
Anyway, back to the story......
The other day, Eric said, "I need to make poo poo." When he says this I ALWAYS respond, "do you wanna try to make poo poo in the toilet this time?" I say this in a very happy, smiley, enthusiastic and hopeful manner. He in turn always responds, "no in a diaper."
So this particular time I said, "are you sure? It's not scary. It's kinda nice and not messy like pooping in a diaper." He said, "no, pooping in the toilet is for big boys and big girls." So I said, "Eric you are a big boy. Riley poo poos in the toilet. Maybe you can try next time?" "Okay. Next time," he said to me and off he went to the bathroom.....
Since my husband was home for the evening he volunteered to clean Eric's poopy rear end. Score! It's always comical watching and listening to my husband wrestle with cleaning Eric's Texas sized dump (he's big for his age). I overheard, "Arrrrrrrgh! O, man! this stinks! I swear Eric, you better be pooping in the toilet by this time next year!" Eric very calmly and immediately responded, "no, when I'm 20."
