Someone posted the other day about Newton being autistic and you always hear about kids with special skills, genius or savants. I saw a guy on TV the other day who was an artist and painted everything from memory. He would stare at a city scape for 5-10 minutes then go back home and do a detailed painting from memory. He was incredible!
What do you feel are your childs greatest strengths or skills? What is your kid good at? Do you see any outstanding traits in your child?

My one son Sam is obsessed
My one son Sam is obsessed with trains. He could tell you everything there is to know about them. He's only seven. My other seven year old Jordan is one to also memorize shows and accents. He will word for word tell you Sponge Bob episodes with accents and sound effects. But that is also thier downfall. They live in those worlds and it is hard to pull them out for the real world. Hopefully as time goes on we can learn to channel it to benefit them.

My son Lyle is has a particularly strong visual and auditory memory. He is only 4 so I'm not sure what that will translate into the future...
He can memorize books that you read once and "reads" them back to you. He can also memorize entire dialogues of entire children's shows/cartoons (dozens of them). I understand this is a fairly common phenomenon. The memorized dialogue takes the place of any "normal" conversational dialogue - he also can pick up any accents of the heard dialogue.
For example - Kipper is a British childrens cartoon, the characters have a British accent. If its a Kipper day, we get Lyle's dialogue in the British accent.
Nothing that would classify
Nothing that would classify him as a savant, but he has turned one of the great problems associated with autism (inability to filter background noises) into a strength. As a hobby, he does sound mixing for an amateur theatre group. Someday, who knows, it may become his career.
